Lauren Herman: Fitness Director Assistant Tennis Director
Lauren Herman moved to North Carolina from New York in May, 2001. She has been the Fitness Director and the Assistant Tennis Director of the Chapel Hill Tennis Club since June, 2001. Lauren has been designing exercise programs and helping people meet their fitness goals since 1995, and holds certifications through the American Council on Exercise as a Personal Trainer and Health Coach. Health and fitness have always been a large part of Lauren’s life.
In addition to her work as a personal trainer, she also has been teaching and coaching tennis for over 30 years including Cornell University assistant women’s coach and the head coach at Wells College. She is a Certified Tennis Professional (P1) through the United States Professional Tennis Association. Lauren’s involvement in sports throughout life has resulted in an appreciation for physical fitness and an interest in motivating people to achieve their fitness goals, regardless of age or current fitness level.
Lauren believes that with a positive attitude, dedication and proper guidance, anyone can reach their full potential and can even have fun in the process. Pat Karrigan: ACE certified Personal Trainer AFAA certified Group Fitness Instructor
Pat has lived in Carrboro for 7 years, where her children have enjoyed the convenient walk from their home to Chapel Hill Tennis Club. Pat has recently combined her background in teaching with her passion for exercise, to focus her energy on helping others achieve their fitness goals. She is certified through the American Council on Exercise.
Pat has always led an active lifestyle, but the birth of her third son precipitated a new dimension in her activity level, and a running career emerged! The initial days of “sticking to it” led to training for and competing in numerous races of various distances, including 4 marathons: Camp Lejeune, Grandma’s, Chicago, and Kiawah Island. Her finishing times in 3 of these qualified her to run in the Boston Marathon. Aside from the many health benefits she has received from running, Pat appreciates the calmness and clarity she gains through running. She considers the friends she has met along the way to be the greatest gift of all.
In an effort to create balance in her own exercise regime, Pat diversifies her program to include many forms of training. She continues to challenge herself in new areas and participated in her first triathlon in Wilmington, NC last September.
Pat would like the opportunity to share her enthusiasm for fitness with you, she will keep you motivated, improve your technical skills, ensure every workout counts, introduce new equipment, teach you a new exercise, and guide you through a program tailored to meet your fitness goals and helps you build a foundation for a more active and healthy lifestyle.
Caroline Jones is a certified ACE personal trainer and is excited to start training clients at the Chapel Hill Tennis Club. She is a USPTA certified tennis professional and began teaching tennis at CHTC in June of 2018, after receiving her BA at UNC- Chapel Hill, where she played on the club tennis team. While she was in college, her team reached nationals all 4 years and placed second in the nation two of those years. She is passionate about health and wellness and looks forward to adding personal training clients of all ages, backgrounds and abilities to her schedule.
